March on Washington: This occurred in August of 1963. The march was focused to draw attention to the inequalities and challenges faced by African Americans. This march is also where Martin Luther King Jr. gave his "I Have a Dream Speech."
Freedom Riders: Is a group of white and African Americans that were civil rights activists. They did things such as use "white-only" bathrooms and sat in the wrong section of buses in order to get their point across. Freedom Riders convinced the federal government to have desegregated interstate travel.
Greensboro Sit-in: This occurred on February 1, 1960. Four African American students from A&T sat down in the white only counter. The four students were Ezell Bair Jr., Franklin McCain, Joseph McNeil, and David Richmond. These men became known as the Greensboro Four. By February 5th over 300 students joined them to protest at Woolworths. There was a tremendous amount of media coverage which caused many other people to do similar protests across the nation
