The March

MLK said "we have to go broke...I have to go broke." He realized that they must be willing to give their lives to end segregation. Randolph was another man named the "Dean of Civil rights" that worked in order to gain the freedoms they deserved. He knew that to create change they needed mass action and to go protest near the power in the country..Washington DC. Randolph had two marches there.

They began planning for the biggest march yet. For this people were traveling in from all over the country. The days leading up to the march people were sick with anticipation. The day arrived and people began to arrive which is when they knew it was going to be a success. So many people, both black and white were there singing "we shall overcome." This march was uniting over 200,000 that came to support the cause. Many famous people were singing and giving speeches. MLK stated that "America has given African Americans a bad check" and this must be changed. He finally ended his speech with the I have a dream speech and his last words were "Free at last, free at last, thank God all mighty. The crowd erupted, moved by his words and ready to gain their equality. This speech will be remembered forever.
